Exercise Testing and Programing for Health
Exercise programming for every person! These programs are created to meet your goals and health needs, whether it is to get stronger, to lose weight, or to complete a marathon! All programs are designed to fit into your life to be enjoyed! Exercise testing is also available, which can help you define your goals. Advice for general physical activity will be covered in these sessions. This can be done in person or via telehealth.
Cardiac Rehabilitation
Have you had a recent cardiac event, such as a heart attack? Following these events or surgeries that accompany them, the body can take a while to recover. Exercise can be a great way to help the body get back to normal and strengthen the heart. Exercise can also be helpful to prevent future cardiac events, especially if you have a family history of heart disease or hypertension! Working with an exercise physiologist can help you do this safely!
Diabetes Management
Type 2 Diabetes is considered a lifestyle condition, and exercise has been shown to be a great way to help manage and reduce the severity of it. Exercise can help control blood glucose levels, as well as weight management. Working with an exercise physiologist can help you do this safely!
Healthy Aging
Exercise is vital for aging in a healthy way, and can help you maintain your independence and improve your quality of life! Exercise programs that include strength, mobility, and balance can help achieve this is a safe and fun way!
Osteoarthritis management can also be included in this, either with individual sessions or joining group programs through GLA:D Canada.
Chronic Pain Management
Chronic pain is one of the most common and frustrating conditions to manage! Exercise can be a great way to help regulate or reduce pain, while improving strength and mobility at the same time.
Any conditions that have triggered chronic pain - such as previous injuries, fibromyalgia, chronic pain syndrome, etc. - can benefit from regular exercise routines. Working with an exercise physiologist can help you manage the pain without aggravating it!
Pre and Post Natal Exercise
Exercise during and after pregnancy can be very beneficial to both you and your baby! It is a great window of opportunity to improve health or maintain your healthy habits. Having a structured exercise program and advice through this time is immensely helpful and can improve pregnancy outcomes!
Orthopedic Injury and Surgery Rehabilitation
Do you have an acute or chronic injury? Or have recently had surgery for an injury? Or even have a surgery coming up in the future? How about an injury that happened at work? All of these scenarios can benefit with exercise to help rehabilitate or pre-habilitate!
If you were injured at work and are hoping to complete active rehab to return to work, your insurance company may fund kinesiology services to help! Please note, kinesiologists are not funded by WorkSafe BC.
Neurological and Spinal Cord Injury Function
Exercise can be a great way to help improve physical functioning with neurological conditions such as stroke, SCI, downs syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy.
Exercise can help maintain or improve overall health, weight management, maintaining muscle mass and strength, and helping reduce injuries joints. Exercises can be wide ranging and include strength and conditioning, aerobic exercise, and sport participation!
Pulmonary / Respiratory Management
Exercise can be beneficial in helping improve or manage pulmonary and respiratory conditions - such as COPD, cystic fibrosis, asthma, long COVID, etc.
Exercise can help improve aerobic capacity, breathing techniques, and overall strength and endurance!
Basic Nutrition Counselling
Nutrition is just as important as exercise! With the right nutritional support, we can improve overall health and help manage weight in a healthy way.
Kinesiologists have a basic level of nutrition counselling, with the option of further training if they choose. If you are hoping for a more in depth nutritional support, we recommend seeking out a local naturopath!
Exercise During and After Cancer Treatments
Exercise programming during and after cancer treatments have recently become much more popular as there has been a surge in research in this area! Exercise can be very beneficial to help manage side effects of treatment, improve or maintain levels of physical function and strength, as well as improve mental health during this difficult time in life.
Mental Health Management
Our physical and mental health are connected, so exercise has been shown to be a great way to help manage depression, anxiety, PTSD, and even symptoms of concussions! Although exercise has not been shown to cure any of these conditions, it can help reduce severity as well as reduce side affects of common medications used to treat mental health conditions.

Children and Youth Training
Physical activity for kids is important to help them develop physically and mentally! Did you know that children and youth should be achieving at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day?!
Exercise programs can help improve motor development, strength, and athletic performance in children and youth. All forms of exercise are safe for them to complete, and there is growing evidence to show weight training is effective for children and youth if taught proper form by an exercise professional!

Strength and conditioning also ties in rehabilitation of injuries to help you return to sport or return to playing recreational activities!
Concussion Management
Concussions are common in contact sport, motor vehicle accidents, or even domestic violence cases. Rehabilitation from concussions can take months or even years, depending on the severity!
Returning to physical activity is often a goal for people with concussions, but managing symptoms can be tough. Working with an exercise physiologist can be helpful to get you back moving, while not aggravating the concussion!
